Drama and Performing Arts
Year 7
Drama is taught within the One Life One World Creative Arts scheme along- side Music and Art. Pupils will be taught within a carousel system and complete a fun and interesting unit based on developing confidence and performing skills, Pupils will learn how to devise (write) their own plays, improvise drama and perform scripts as well as looking as costume and set design
Year 8
Pupils are taught within the creative arts scheme along- side music and drama. They will complete three units throughout the year that will focus on their area of specialism. The Year will culminate in a whole class performance.
Year 9-Performing Arts BTEC First Certificate/Diploma
Pupils will enjoy a very practical course which includes three main strands, music, drama, and dance. They can choose which strand they would like to develop the most and the course can be specifically catered to each individual pupil. This year the Performing Arts group will create perform a musical where pupils will study all element of putting on a large show including marketing, stage design and costume, performing- either acting/musical or a combination or both, set design, lighting and sound technology and directing.
There are three units to complete this year (certificate) the entire course is assessed through performance and coursework, there is no final exam.
