Key Stage 4
The Two Pathways
In responding to the comments of students, their parents/carers and recent government initiatives, we have introduced the possibility of studying more vocationally orientated courses such as BTEC and Young Apprenticeships. We have also tried to tailor the courses offered to the individual learning needs and career aspirations of our students, by offering two distinct Pathways - Broadband and Specialist.
The Broadband Pathway is for the majority of students and consists of mainly academic courses leading to GCSE or equivalent qualifications, which in turn lead to employment and/or continued study.
The Specialist Pathway is for students who, due to their particular learning needs, will benefit from courses which though less academic, still lead to nationally recognised qualifications and again to employment and/or continued study. Students and their parents/carers suitable for the Pathway will be contacted by the academy and invited to an interview to discuss the possibilities this offers.
