Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

The MFL department goal is to create linguists who are confident and creative. They should be able to converse with other people from other cultures and countries in their native language. We currently offer French in Year 9 and at Key Stage 4.

AQA French GCSE

Year 10

- New GCSE Spanish course with WJEC Exam Board

Year 11 French

• Second year of GCSE French AQA Exam Board
• Foundation Grades C-G
• Higher Grades A* -D
• Weighting of skills :-

20% for Listening, 20% for Reading, 30 % for Speaking and 30% for Writing

• 2 pieces of coursework to be completed by Easter 2011 under controlled exam conditions
• 1 speaking exam at the higher level (10 minutes) to be completed by Easter 2011
• 1 reading exam at the Higher Level (50 minutes)
• 1 Listening exam at the foundation level (35 minutes)
