Physical Education
At Key Stage 4, pupils have two 50 minute lessons per week and the aim is to give pupils an insight into the three roles that sporting involvement incorporates; Performing, Coaching and Umpiring/Refereeing. Activities at KS4 are optional and pupils have a number of choices available to them at each half term. However, in all activities that are offer, pupils are encouraged to take on all three roles, in as many activities as possible. If then appropriate, pupils will complete a leaders award or umpiring course, to ensure that as many pupils as possible leave the academy with a sporting qualification of some sort.

In addition to options within school, pupils have taken part in the 'Go Programme' at the local Halo Leisure Centre, where pupils cover swimming, aqua aerobics, Yoga, Boxercise, Fitball and Pilates.
Key Stage 4 - BTEC Sport
In BTEC Sport, pupils will either follow the BTEC First Certificate (2 GCSE's A*-C), having 3 lessons per week or the BTEC First Diploma (4 GCSE's A*-C), having 4 lessons per week. Both are a two year course and involve both practical and theoretical aspects of PE. The Certificate covers 3 modules over 2 years and the Diploma covers 6 units over 2 years. Some of the modules include Practical Sport, The Body in Sport and Preparation for Sport. Pupils will be graded through coursework, obtaining a Pass, Merit or Distinction, once completed. In the past three years, the pass rate has been 100% for both courses.
