Study and Skills Club gets off to a flying start

The Study and Skills Club started at the beginning of last half term and it is great to report that we now have a core group of pupils who make full use of the clubs facilities. After making pupils and parents aware that the club is available for homework help, individual study and a quite place for hobbies, it has really proven popular with our students.

The club was very popular last half term, with almost 50 pupils attending at least one or more of the evening sessions, from years 7 to 11. The range of work the pupils have needed help with has covered a wide range of subjects, Spanish, Art, Maths, English, Science, Technology to name just a few.

We have even had the pleasure of helping a Parent and her son with some algebra homework.
In addition to homework help there have been pupils who use the opportunity of a clean quiet area to pursue a hobby they are interested in. The academy formula 1 school team also use the club to meet on Thursdays and will soon be building their model car for performance testing.

The club operates from 3 to 5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and is open to all years for help with work or a space to research or pursue individual study. There are ICT facilities (great for coursework) although non-academic games are not allowed to be accessed.

Refreshments are available for club attendees. Tuesday is also the Film Club night where members watch and then critically review age appropriate films they have chosen to watch. The club is also developing links with the Herefordshire library services.

So if you need help or a space to work, come along and see what we can offer.
