We Are All Published!
During the first Reading Week of this year, all of The Hereford Academy pupils took part in a national mini saga writing competition in conjunction with the Young Writers creative book writing series. This year's theme was The adventure starts here...., with the pupils being allowed fifty words maximum to write their short story. The English department led this exciting project with focused lessons that enabled the pupils to understand the requirements of writing a story with such a concise word limit. There were in-school prizes for the ones deemed the best in each year group, and all of the mini sagas were entered into the national competition.
We are very proud to announce that 175 of our pupils were successful in getting their saga in print. They will be published together in a book: The Adventure Starts Here 2009 - The Hereford Academy, which will be available to purchase through the school.
Matthew Payne, Head Boy
Desolate. An acrid wasteland beckoning survivors of the season, those that had been forgotten. United under the banner of salvation, trudging through the snow, pearly white flecks crushed under a surge of purpose. Many had fallen desperately. But their hopes were in vain. Tescos was closed this Christmas.
