Academy Opening and Closure re: Industrial Action , Wednesday, 30th November 2011
24th November 2011
Dear Parents/Carers
With reference to the proposed Industrial Action that is due to take place on Wednesday, 30th November, I wish to advise you that the Academy will not be fully open for that day. The reason for this is that there are a significant number of staff at the academy taking part in the industrial action and other staff are not prepared on that day to cover for striking colleagues and there is also a Health & Safety concern if we are not fully staffed.
With this decision in mind, we the academy be closed to students in Years 7, 8 and 9 and open for a reduced number of hours and students, namely, Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 only as follows:
Year 11 students should arrive by 10.45 am and ready to attend their Mathematics session at 10.50 am with their normal maths teachers. Year 11 students may stay for lunch after their morning session but should then leave the site at 1.00 pm.
Year 10 students can come into the academy at 1.00 pm for their lunch and attend their Mathematics session in the afternoon from 1.25 pm to 3.00 pm. Year 10 students doing Junior Hairdressing should attend Peter Prosser as normal.
Students will be registered in their lessons on this day and both Year 10 and 11 students will be expected to be in full academy uniform.
Students in Years 12 & 13 who follow the BTEC Sport and Science course can come in from 10.45 am to attend these sessions with their normal teachers.
Although there will be an interrupted service on this day, I hope you will understand that we have endeavoured to try to remain open as far as possible for as many students as we can and I hope that the issue surrounding public service staff and their pension arrangements will be resolved as soon as possible.
All students should return to the academy on Thursday, 1st December at the normal time. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
Yours sincerely
John Sheppard
Principal
