Teachers TV visits The Hereford Academy

This year The Hereford Academy were awarded a centre of excellence for training and developing support staff by NAPTA (National Association of Professional Teaching Assistants), as a result of this we were contacted by Lambert Productions to make a video about how our Teaching Assistant team really benefit our students.. The film is already on the teachers TV website and will be on SKY very soon

Here's what they said...

'The Hereford Academy demonstrates how TAs have played a key role in dramatically improving GCSE results, with proportion of grades A*-C rising from 33 per cent in 2006 to 74 per cent in 2008

Almost two thirds of pupils arrive at the Academy with a literacy age two years below their chronological age. The TA team manages and monitors a number of literacy and numeracy interventions that help target these pupils.

The Academy's policy to ensure that their TAs have access to specialist training is just one reason why these learning support schemes have been such a success.

Here, the TAs and their enthusiastic managers explain their formula for success, and how a happy and motivated team ensures a productive working environment.'
