Y10 Assessment Week

21st June 2019

Dear Parent/Carer

I am writing to share with you the programme for the scheduled assessment week Year 10 will be having during the week beginning Monday 1st July 2019. A series of ‘Mock style’ Examinations will used in most subject areas during this week,  and run as if they would for the actual GCSE examinations in the summer of 2020.

Not all subjects require an examination slot at this point, for example:

  • Performing Arts have been completing an internal assessment recently in lessons.
  • Construction have only just recently sat an exam component for their course.
  • Sport and ICT (both doing coursework currently) do not require a mock exam at this point.
  • French Speaking Mocks have taken place this week whilst Reading and Listening tests will take place during French lessons in Week commencing 8th July.
  • Art and Photography will also be having a combined mock exam before the end of term (date to be soon confirmed with the students)

The examinations are extremely important because they give students and staff a clear indication of the progress made since starting their GCSE courses.  We would appreciate your support in encouraging your son/daughter to revise purposefully in preparation for these exams.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Mr E. Snelgrove

[Deputy Headteacher]
