Uniform Update (July 2017): School Shoes

Please remember that our uniform policy has always stated that correct footwear should be black shoes suitable for the work place. This means plain black pumps are acceptable but not black trainers.
However black shoes or pumps that display a logo or brand name on the top, side or back are not also permitted.

Below are some images of footwear that we accept as well as examples of those we do not. Please use these images as a guide and if you still have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Acceptable Footwear (Plain black shoes or pumps)
Footwear not accepted (Black trainers or shoes with logos)
Footwear not accepted (Black shoes with small logos on the top, side or back)

Make up: It is not necessary for students to wear make-up or nail polish to the Academy. The Academy will, however, accept students wearing make-up that is inconspicuous. Students will be asked to remove conspicuous make-up.

Hair Styles: Hair styles should be suitable to the working environment. If students’ hair is long then the Academy will expect it to be tied back for all practical sessions. Hair, if dyed, should be a natural colour. Students will not be permitted to attend lessons if their hair colour is considered unacceptable. If necessary exclusion from The Academy will be considered.

Equipment: Students are expected to be equipped with the following items: pens (1 blue, 1 black, 1 green), rubber, pencil, ruler, pencil sharpener, protractor, pencil case and school bag. Form tutors will be asked to make regular checks on these items.

PE Uniform Requirements

The Hereford Academy PE kit has been designed to offer affordability, durability and create a smart image that students are proud to portray. If a student has not brought in PE kit for a lesson he/she will be required to borrow spare kit and will have a 10 minute detention at lunchtime. If this occurs twice in a half term a 20 minute detention will be set on a Monday lunchtime. Three times will lead to a C3 lunchtime detention. If this occurs a letter will be sent home detailing when the detention will take place.

If a student is ill or injured they are required to bring a note with them to give to their PE teacher detailing the extent of their absence from competing. From this academic year students who bring in a note will still be required to bring in full PE kit and take an active part in lesson as a coach or official. Failure to do so will result in sanctions applied as above.
