KS4 GCSE

You will see New GCSE grades in reports as GCSE subjects change from A*-G to 9-1.

GCSE grades have changed.
GCSEs in England have been reformed and will be graded with a new scale from 9 to 1, with 9 being the highest grade.

This is happening as GCSEs have been reformed to make them more challenging, to keep pace with employers’ and universities demands. Grade 9 will be more difficult to achieve than a grade A*. To see how the numbered grades compare to the A* to G system, see the "ofqual 9 to 1 postcard" below.

The ‘Attitude to Learning’ grade replaces homework and motivation grades given to learners in previous reports. Teachers choose the grade which ‘best fits’ a student’s attitude and application towards learning in their subject area.

1 Excellent Learner

2 Effective Learner

3 Potential Learner

4 Undeveloped Learner

The headline 'Attendance' figure shows the number of times a student attended school over the period of the report, as a percentage of the number of possible attendances.
