BTEC National Award in Business

This course builds on work covered in the BTEC First Certificate or Diploma in Business, however there is no requirement to have studied business at this level to get on the course.

The BTEC First Diploma in Business is a practical work related course in which students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

A BTEC First Diploma is equivalent to 4 A*-C grades at GCSE . This follow-on National Award course is worth the equivalent of one A level and points awarded count towards UCAS if you are thinking of continuing with education or looking to start again.

A Pass is worth 40 UCAS points
A Merit is worth 80 UCAS points, and
A Distinction is worth 120 UCAS points

Course Structure

The National Award in Business comprises four Mandatory Units:

  • Exploring Business Activity
  • Investigating Business Resources
  • Introduction to marketing
  • Effective People, Communication and Information
