The Young Apprenticeship (YA) offers students the chance to gain a taste of 'real work' in a supported way, and to lay the foundations for post 16 pathways. The YA programme contributes to a more personalized approach to learning, centred on different learning styles and time spent in a work setting
At the end of Yr 11 students can progress on to:
- NVQ Level 2 Fast Track
- NVQ Level 3 Apprenticeship, Advanced Apprenticeship
- NVQ Level 3 Apprenticeship, Advanced Apprenticeship
- Hair and Beauty Diploma Level 3
Additionally, students will have the opportunity to participate in masterclasses, demonstrations by Habia and industry personnel such as Wella and a programme of visits is organised to other organisations, to include industry exhibitions and Higher Education providers
The C & G Hairdressing Diploma comprises 4 mandatory units:
- Working in Hairdressing
- Maintain health and safety in the salon
- Client consultation for hairdressing services
- Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
There are a number of specialist units which will be taken from the list below:
- Cut women's hair
- Style and dress women's hair
- Colour hair
- Perm and neutralise hair
- Display stock to promote sales in a salon
- Monitor and maintain levels of stock in a salon
- Fulfil salon reception duties
- Provide scalp massage
- Hairdressing design skills
- Promote products and services to clients in a salon
