House System and Events

This consists of four Houses:

Titan, europe, ariel, metis.

The house systems provides an opportunity for students to engage in friendly competition through collecting points in lessons and participation in a range of events and activities.

The new houses launched this year were created by the student council last year and will continue with students at their core, with competitions running to design the logos and mottos to develop the unique image of each house.

House Sports Captains were appointed last year to provide Year 10 role models the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and inspire engagement in younger students both in the sporting arena and the wider house environment.

In conjunction with staff Heads of House, these students will plan and deliver a range of activities to keep students enthusiastic and build bonds between the house groups.

Twice per half term, students will participate in house assemblies and activities designed to develop collaborative and aspirational skills in a less formal classroom environment. Students move to their house teams during tutor time and work together to try and achieve the best results in the challenges given.

The main way to earn house points is through the Class Charts software used by all staff in lessons. This provides rewards for students who show commitment to learning, contribution to extra-curricular activities, excellent performances, and service to the school community.

The top students are rewarded with house badges for achieving different levels of points, and one male and one female student per house hols the silver House Leaders tie each half term for learning their tutor group. There are also some exciting new rewards for key stage 4 students being developed.

In addition to a rage of activities in all departments the main events of the House calendar are the termly house sports competition, and the year-ending sports day which provide big points to the winning teams and are often key to determining the destination of the coveted Cup of Cups.

House Logo Competition

As part of the re-launched house system, students are being asked to design a new logo to represent their house which will then become the badge for all students to wear with pride in the future. Students can design a hardcopy, or work electronically using the link provided below (see download pdf button - this is the name of the button, however, the document is a Word document, so you will be able to make edit it). There is a moodboard attached for each house to provide ideas and inspiration.

Closing date for the competition is Friday 6th October, designs should be handed or emailed to your staff head of house.
