  • Important Information Regarding Y11 Curriculum & Exams

    Fri 13 Mar 2020

    13th March 2020

    Dear Parent/Carer

Adjustments to protect Year 11 subjects with practical and controlled Assessment activities this half-term

In preparation for the possibility that the Government may, in coming weeks, enforce school closures to further delay the Covid-19 virus outbreak, we have put in place a series of timetable changes to ensure Year 11 study courses with practical and controlled assessment units, can be completed this half-term.

Therefore, we have put in place a series of Curriculum ‘Drop-down’ days for students studying those courses. On the days highlighted below, students affected, will spend time in those subjects with their teachers instead of following their normal timetable, to ensure key component tasks are completed.

  • Statement from Ofqual – Official guidance -  Coronavirus and Examinations.

    Fri 13 Mar 2020

Statement from Ofqual – Official guidance -  Coronavirus and Examinations.

“We recognise that students, parents, schools and colleges will be concerned about the possible impact of coronavirus on the 2020 summer exam series. Our advice at this time is to continue to prepare for exams and other assessments as normal.

We continue to work closely with exam boards, other regulators and the Department for Education and we have met to plan for a range of scenarios, as the public would expect. Our overriding priorities are fairness to students this summer and keeping disruption to a minimum.

It is still many weeks until exams start and we will issue updated advice if necessary, giving students as much notice as possible.”

Following this announcement The Hereford Academy will continue with all internal assessments and examinations as scheduled.
