KATE MAVOR VISITS THA
Kate Mavor, CEO of English Heritage visited The Hereford Academy today to talk to 2 groups of students. Kate discussed her varied career and gave the students some inspirational advice and guidance, she talked in detail about her role in English Heritage and gave examples of jobs suitable for a range of different skills and interests.
Many thanks to Speakers for Schools for organising the visit. Speakers for Schools is a UK education charity launched in 2011 to help level the playing field for state secondary schools and their students by increasing access to inspiring talks and engagements with today’s top figures and employers, as often seen in fee-paying schools. Speakers are high-profile leaders and experts donating their time and travel, keeping all engagements free of charge to our schools.
Deputy Headteacher, Mr Snelgrove said: “Kate Mavor is a passionate and engaging speaker who crafted a very personal and inspirational message for our students. Using her wealth of experience and expertise, Kate motivated our young people to achieve and aspire without fear. Sharing a number of examples from her own life about overcoming challenges as she pursued her own interests and ambitions, Kate connected powerfully with the students and encouraged them to stay confident and curious about the future.
In her role as the Chief Executive of English Heritage, Kate also broadened all our horizons, to not only the vast range of career opportunities that can be found within her organisation, but also to the amazing historical sites they work hard to preserve. Some of the most impressive, we were shown, are very local to us here in Herefordshire, like the majestic Goodrich castle.
Kate’s words have greatly inspired us. We will now face the future more confidently, proudly pursuing the dreams and interests we keep dear in our hearts, whilst increasingly aware of how magical our past can be.”
